Can't install MacOS from Bootable USB 3.0

First I did this: https://pureinfotech.com/create-macos-bootable-usb-windows/
This let me to make MacOS as bootable USB while using Windows 10.

Next I did this: How to Boot from a USB Drive in VMware - Make Tech Easier
This basically let me to choose small file called plpbt-5.0.15 as Installer disc image file (iso). And so instead of operating system I choose this.
By doing so, after I turn on VMWare, I get to see boot menu from which I can boot from USB.

Here comes my problem:

My laptop has only USB Ports 3.0 and my USB itself is 3.0.

In settings "USB Controller" if I choose USB compatibility USB 3.0, then I get information saying "Using USB devices with a USB 3.0 controller requires Linux kernel 3.2 or newer.
If I run in such settings, after choosing to boot from usb I get error "NO BOOT DEVICE FOUND, PLEASE RETRY IT"

Now if I choose USB compatibility USB 2.0 and turn on boot menu, in moment of inserting my USB into port I get message saying "The device Kingston Data Traveler 3.0 was unable to connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be made to connect this device to the best available host controller. This might result in undefined behavior for this device.

Then if I click to boot from USB everything freeze, there is no error or anything. On 3.0 it tried to load, couple lines showed and eventually said that it can't find booting usb, but here it just shows starting message of Loading and then "Port 1: Device Connected" and just freeze.

What do you think I could do in this situation? So far I know only two options:

1. Buy USB adapter 2.0 and put it into usb 3.0, and then put my Kingston 3.0 into this adapter, but I don't know if it changes anything

2. Buy USB memory 2.0 and stick it straight into usb 3.0
3. ???

ps. I know I can install it in different way, but that's not my point, it has to be this way. Thank you!

Transfer VMWare Workstation

Dear Community,

I've a Virtual machine running in VMWare 12.5. Now I need to take backup of that machine and migrate it to another machine. But the problem is I want to take the backup without shutting down the VM. I looked for the possible solution in the resource section but everywhere it's suggested that I need to Shutdown the guest OS i.e. the VM before taking backup. So I want to know whether there's any other option where I can take the backup without shutting down the VM machine and migrate it to another machine.

Best wishes always

Problem with time sync. Syncs every 5 minutes altough switched off

Hello everybody,

I have a problem with time sync on one of my virtual machines. I have two machines with identical Hardware and Softwareconfig.

I use WMware Workstation 10.0.7 and my host, as well as my guest OS are Windows Server 2003.

I have switched off time sync via VM -> Settings -> Options -> VMware Tools and have enabled domain time sync in the guest OS. I checked the tools.syncTime = "FALSE" entry in the *.vmx file.

On one of my machines everything works as expected and the machine runs synchronized with the DC in the network.

But on the other machine time runs slightly slower (+1,2s every minute) and is synchronized (probably by VMware because there are no entries in the event log of the guest OS) every 5 minutes to the time of the host.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

I'm getting the black screen as soon as I install Vmware tools 10.3.10 (latest version) on Workstation 15.1. I can boot into safe mode to disable the SVGA driver but how do we rectify this? I've done some quick searching, and it appears people have resolved this with the latest version of tools, but not working for me? Ideas?

I am working with Workstation since 2010.

Hi,

I have installed Workstation 15 recently. My host machine is Windows 10 and VM is Windows 7. I need to use Cisco Webex for troubleshooting issues with different vendors however I am unable to allow vendors to control the VM with the mouse.

VMWare Workstation 14 Pro lockup Linux host's input while guest is freezing.

I'm using Linux Mint 19 which is based on Ubuntu 18.04. So I think this host OS should be considered as a "Supported" one?

But actually, I cannot use VMware workstation 14 Pro seamlessly. It sometimes lockups the host's input while the guest is frozen. And never recover.

So the problem is although the host machine is not frozen and works perfectly, as VMware has captured all inputs, I cannot even detach from the frozen guest and completely lose control of my computer. The only thing I can do is to hard reboot my computer and doubtlessly lose all my works.

Well, it looks like I am not the only one: Guest locking up host on Linux hosts  Although he is using Ubuntu 18.10 which is claimed as "Unsupported".

Currently, I am just using Virtualbox as an alternative. Any suggestion?

Win 10 Guest Crashing with error "Hal Initilization Failed" when Win 10 host laptop goes to sleep/hibernates

I have a laptop running Win 10 1903 (host). I have VM (Workstation Pro 15.1.0) running Win 10 1903 (Guest).

When I close my laptop or if it hibernates and I forget to suspend my VM it crashes saying there was a HAL initilization error (see screenshot below):

2019-07-25_08h36_03.png

Of course my power settings on the lap top are set to put it to sleep after 20 min. I've used VMWare for awhile on previous versions of windows. When the host would go to sleep it would automatically suspend the guest.

Can someone help me prevent these crashes on my guest VMs? Thanks

Can anyone point me to where I can DOWNLOAD the "Virtual-Printer-version-build.exe" file ?  I previously downloaded the "VMWare Workstation Player 15" and I now need to install the printer software.

The documentation (Install VMware Virtual Printer ) mentions to install the software from a CD but I got the software from a download !  Does anyone know where I can get the file "Virtual-Printer-version-build.exe"  ?

Thank you.

On Workstation Pro 15 Snapshot Manager one  VM shows a string of snapshots which are not really there, but cannot be deleted because when I try to I get the message "Error deleting. A required file was not found." Is there a way to get rid of the non-existent snapshots from the snapshot manager?

vmware 15.1 Windos 98 does not boot anymore

Hello,

This is my first post here - I do not really know about the structure of vmware community, so Sorry if I'm in wrong place.

I have been using vmware workstation since version 6, upgrading every 2 releases. Now I have upgraded from 12 to 15, mostly because at this moment 12.5 would not install correctly on new Linux systems, also for all this time I've been using same Windows 98 virtual machine without any problems, so I have not tried it during the 30 days free support time. Today I was trying to start it and I got "windows protection error". same machine is still working correctly on work station 12.5.9.

In step by step confirmation last loaded driver is mouse driver, then couple second of some hdd activity and black screen with protection error with system reboot information.

I found one article showing someone not being able to install Windows 98 on vmware 14, so my ques is this is something that changed then.

Any help will be appreciated, by I'm afraid this can not be done by changing some settings.

Thank You

Running workstation 10.0.7 on win10 home host. I would like to create a virtual machine from this host. Any hints or things to watch out for?

The new VM will be created on an external USB drive.

Do I need to turn off or disable any security services on the host first?

Glitch Workstation 15.1.0 - Win10-on-Win10 - Nvidia GTX 1060 - faint unreadable text

It happens in any browser that I have tried. Chrome, Edge, Brave, Pale Moon, Vivaldi and you name it. It happens in text-fields auto-fill as well. Text, buttons and such are to faint and unreadable a lot of the times. Even in Windows 10's popup messages this happens.

I put together a new computer with:

AMD Zen2 third gen. 3700x

Samsung Evo Plus 970

G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 RGB 32GB 3200Mhz

I am providing every guest-OS 6 Gigabytes of virtual RAM,

and 65 Gig of storage

VMware Tools is installed in all my guest-OS's

I believe this is a graphics glitch in the VMware Tools drivers, what do you think?
