AVG, Windows 10 VM crashes

Last week I began having massive problems with VM's crashing my WIndows 10 host and thrashing my C: drive to the point I had to use disk images to regain a bootable machine.

 

After days of trial and error I've narrowed it down to AVG Internet Security, ver: 19.6.3098 build 19.6.4546.439 which is the most recent build as are the definitions in use.

 

I'm assuming, yes - I know, I shouldn't, that one of the recent updates to AVG is the cause of this problem.

 

I'm currently moving to another AV product but I've relied on AVG for decades and I'm reluctant to do so.

 

The VMware host, VMware® Workstation 15 Pro, version 15.1.0 build-13591040 runs without any problems, even with AVG running. But moments after attempting to load a VM, ANY VM, I get the "sad face" blue screen and Windows goes into recovery mode but can't. The only fix is to restore a disk image.

 

None of the software involved is installed on my C: drive; AVG, VMware or my VM's. HELP!

 

Short of tossing AVG, which I'll do if needed, does ANYONE have any suggestions about what's going on and how to fix it?

Auto start of encrypted VM

I'm using Worstation 15 Pro (15.1.0) on Windows 10.

One of my VM's is encrypted, restricted and password protected. Can I start this VM automatically without manually entering encription password?

Accelerate 3D graphics option on setup crashes software

So I just downloaded VMware Workstation Pro 15 and then proceeded with the update for the 15.1. I'm following this tutorial to download Kali Linux How To Install Kali Linux On VMware - Complete Guide 2018 - YouTube. I used this before on VMware 14 to download Kali Linux and it worked fine on my computer before. The issue is when I go to Cuztomize Hardware and then click on Accelerate 3D Graphics, I get the unknown error popup and I am unable to do anything else. If I try to click on anything else, this error keeps coming up until I shut it down it down with task manager. Why is this happening and how can I get it to stop?

Logitech mouse extra buttons (Setpoint ,M705) + WMWare windows 10

I'm considering the VMWare workstation pro.

OS: Windows 10. Mouse: Logitech M705 + Logitech Setpoint software.

I need the extra buttons with the Logitech Setpoint software config.

It worked just after the guest windows installation but stopped working.

I tried everything (VM extended mouse support, Setpoint on both etc).

Any help?

VMWare Workstation 14 Proから、あるリモートサーバ(vCenter 6 Essential)へ接続をしようとしているが、エラーが表示されて接続できない。

ほかのvCenter Serverには接続が可能です。

IP・ユーザ・パスワードはWebから接続しようとしているものと同じものを利用しております。

メッセージは、「IPアドレスに接続できませんでした。接続がタイムアウトしました。」

 

同じ端末(Windows10)から、Webでは接続できないリモートサーバへの接続は可能です。

 

どこの設定を見直せばよいのでしょうか？

Android Marshmallow - google and browser keep giving google stopped message

I have Android 6 Marshmallow set up as a VM on workstation Pro.   but everytime I try to open the browser it says Google has stopped.  My VMWare is on a PC that does not have wireless, it's strictly LAN.  Is this the issue?

 

Network Adapter :  NAT

Processors:   2

Memory 1GB

Latest Windows 10 update won't install over VMWare Workstation 12

When I try to install the latest Windows 10 updates I get a warning message for the Windows 10 updates installer:

 

"VMWare Workstation Pro

 

 

This app can't run because it causes security or performance issues in Windows. A new version may be available. Check with your software provider for an updated app that runs on this version of Windows."

 

Has anyone else encountered this and does anyone know if upgrading to the latest VMWare Workstation 15 will fix this issue?.

Hi All,
I'm running in to an issue that I can't figure out.  Fresh install of Pop-OS and downloaded Workstation Pro 15, installed a Windows 7 client, and Workstation Pro errors out when trying to download the vmware tools ISO.  Has anyone ran in to this before?

Windows 10 host Workstation Pro 15.1.0 : Networking on Centos 6 VM won't start in bridged mode

It's a bit convoluted, but I moved a Centos 6.9 VM from Oracle VirtualBox to workstation Pro 15.1 using the OVA format.

It worked (yay!), and the new VM booted without any problems

I remove the VirtualBox Tools

I installed the Linux VMWare tools

I recreated the network adapter and re-added it.

I made sure the MAC address of eth0 in /etc/sysconfig/network-scrtips/ifcfg-eth0 matches the settings of the VM

Initiating /etc/init.d/network restart does the following in the attached image

VMware Player 15 closes when I shutdown a VM

Every time I shut down a VM my VMware player closes completely. I took a look at the preferences section to check if there was some sort of setting for this, but am not finding one. Is there a fix for this? thanks so much.

Debian 10 "buster" has been released, But "debian 10" cannot be selected when creating a guest vm-os. I created it with "debian 9" configuration, But i can't copy file to guest vm-os. I guess this might be related to GNOME or Wayland.

Latency Test Fails in vmware Workstation 15 Pro

We had run a latency check using LatencyMon Application on a VMware guest(Windows 7 x64 bit) in VMware workstation 15 Pro. But the test fails and says that "Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio".

 

We have tired it with the following specification(Guest OS - VMware settings):

Memory: 6.2 GB

Processors: 1

Hard Disk(SCSI) : 60GB

 

We are using a system with specification:

Memory: 8.00 GB

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5600U CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59GHz

Hard Disk: 256 GB SSD

 

We have attached the result screenshot with this post. We want to play and record simultaneously in audacity but the LatencyMon shows that vmware guest is not supporting real-time audio streaming with this specification.

 

We need to know whether there is a problem with VMware workstation for real-time audio recording or with our PC specification?

Windows 10 Update has problem with VMware Workstation Pro

Hello

 

Today, windows 10 Pro was updating (Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903) and stopped at 35% and displayed an error with VMware Workstation Pro. Restarting the windows and re-updating does not help.

 

 

 

Help me, please.

Slow Ethernet performance robocopy

My company has a robocopy script that runs every time a computer is started.  Very simple robocopy that copies from a network location and dumps the files into that specific computers local folders.  If I run the script on my host computer it is completed in approx. 30 seconds with the ethernet performance in the 5-15 Mbps range.  When the same script is run in the VM, it takes at least 5 minutes and the ethernet performance is never above 100 kbps.  System information is as follows:

Host:

Windows 10.0.17763.  Workstation 12.5.9 PRO.

VM:

Windows 10.0018362.

 

Any help with this would be great! Thanks!

CentOS Guest hangs when laptop resumes

I'm running VMWare Workstation 14 on a Windows 10 laptop with a CentOS guest.

 

I have been struggling with intermittent problems when returning to the laptop and entering my password to unlock the host OS that the virtual machine seems to be frozen. It seems to be a little unpredictable, normally it will get stuck showing the last thing that was displayed on the screen but sometimes it gets stuck showing the guest OS welcome screen or a black screen.

 

Sometimes it freezes itself after a short time, say 30 sec - 1 minute, but sometimes it takes much longer than that - even 15 minutes occasionally. And some of the time it doesn't happen at all. Whenever it does happen, normally once the virtual machine starts responding again the display flashes as if to suggest that the window manager or some other component of the GUI has restarted, and there is a pop-up notification to say that systemd (or something like that will edit later with exact name) has crashed.

 

I also had this problem using Workstation 12, but it seems to have got worse (i.e. takes longer to respond) since upgrading to Workstation 14.

 

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this please?

Guests being powered off in Workstation Pro 15.1

This is a new one for me. I've never seen behavior like this. Anyone else?

 

Workstation Pro 15; VMs are being powered off (not Shutdown) every few hours (completely random, could be 2 hours, could be 8). Host is stable and not resetting, Workstation console itself does not close, but all VMs are being powered off simultaneously. Event viewer in the guest OS shows that the previous system shutdown was unexpected so this was not a graceful shutdown. Guests are running combination of Windows Server 2016, 2019, and Windows 10 1809 & 1903. All VMs are powered off at the same time. VMs were copied from another machine and the VMs do not behave this way on that device.

 

The new host is an Intel NUC with and i7 processor, 32 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD for OS and a 1 TB NVMe drive for the VMs. It is running Windows Server 2019 (fully patched) with data deduplication enabled on the NVMe drive. I am running Workstation Pro 15.1.

 

Any ideas?

Remote Control Software User not able to use Keyboard and Mouse under Workstation Pro 15

Remote control software user (Citrix WebEx or Zoom) is not able to use their keyboard and mouse under Workstation Pro 15.  Able to view the screen but not able to pass keyboard and mouse control to remote control software user.  Is there a VMware setting that needs to be changed?  Using Windows 10 Pro as OS.
