Unity Menus: modify content: question and partial answer?

I would like to know how workstation 10 builds the launchmenu.menudata list that determines the windows 7  Unity Menus content. It must look in some windows registry, file list, or something, and I'd like to change what shows up in mine. Snooping around windows and the launchMenu.menudata file, I discovered that the C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\startmenu links were included in the top half of the menu, so that I could fully control that content.  The remaining items (Computer, Printers, My Documents, etc.) I haven't figured out yet.
