This is the error message I get EVEN on a clean install. In this example I have workstation installed on the C: Drive witch is a SSD, there is a dedicated 1 TB 7200 RPM for guest OS installation. I have 16GB of RAM and use a i5 Intel processor. The Windows 8.1 is a clean install. The work station is a clean install. I have in the past used Virtualbox on another windows installation as well as VMWare player. Is there an issue with doing this on Windows 8.1. Why wont this work.

The operation on file "E:\vmbox\Ustudio\UbuntuStudio.vmdk" failed.

Every time I try to install any OS even from a fresh clean install I get this error message.

If the file resides on a remote file system, make sure that the network connection and the server where this disk resides are functioning properly. If the file resides on removable media, reattach the media.

Select Retry to attempt the operation again.

Select Cancel to end this session.

Select Continue to forward the error to the guest operating system.
