Windows 10 - Version 1903 - Freezing on Copying file

I'm having an issue with my VM - when I attempt copying a file, the Virtual Machine completely locks up, becomes corrupted and gets stuck on "Copying file 'filename' to virtual machine".

I have to reboot my host and only then can restart my VM. As soon as I attempt to copy another file - the VM locks up again.

This started happening last week after I've updated to Windows 10 Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.175).

The version of VMware Workstation I'm running is 12.5.9 build-7535481, but I found someone who is having the same problem on the latest version of Workstation 15.

Reinstalling VMware Workstation or re-adding the VM doesn't help.

Anyone has the same problem or knows a fix?

Can anyone provide me some help or guidance to get VMs on VMware worklstation 15 to run in windows 10 Pro N?

I keep getting this error when I try to launch any of my VM's = "VMware Workstation and Device/Credential Guard are not compatible. VMware Workstation can be run after disabling Device/Credential Guard". (Image attached)

I tried using powershell per suggested instructions to disable DC/CG but it is not recognizing the command syntax.

I appreciate any help or recommendations for this issue.

Block internet on host but allow on VM

Hello,

I am trying to find a way to block all Internet connections on my Windows 10 Pro host machine while allowing a Windows 10 VM to access the Internet using NAT.

This is for a cellular connection so I am not able to utilize VMware Bridge Protocol which would make this much easier. I have tried to explore this bridging option on a earlier post and it seems that because this cellular connection is considered a modem that it cannot be bridged.

So, my only other option is to utilize NAT but my goal is that my host has no internet connectivity to help minimize the risk to it. I have attempted to use Windows Firewall and block outbound connections but cannot find a way to make an exception for a VM. Is there any other way to only allow a VM to access the Internet?

Any help on how to solve this or make the bridge protocol work would be GREATLY appreciated.

Snapshots on VMware vCenter Server

Running Workstation Pro v15.1 with local VM's under Windows

I also access VM's on the corporate vCenter Server. I can connect and manage the remotes servers using VMware Workstation Pro, except when it comes to the snapshots. I can create a snapshot and can see existing snapshots (those that existing when I connected). However any changes (creations or deletions) in snapshots are not reflected in the Snapshot Manager.  Closing an opening the Snapshot Manager does nothing. The Snapshot Manager works as expected for local snapshots, but not for snapshots for VM's on the vCenter Server.

I can only refresh the list by disconnecting and reconnecting to the vCenter. This is a real pain.

Is this a bug or is there a way to easily refresh the snapshots?

My way of thinking is that this should happen automatically whenever the Snapshot Manager, and not relying on what is a stale cached copy.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 64-bit (in VMWare) does not allow setting native host resolution and saving screen settings.

Hello.

I just downloaded Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 64-bit ISO and installed in a VMware Workstation (15.1.0) VM. VM has the default settings, host screen resolution: 3840x2160 (latest Intel drvs). RH is updated, open-vm-tools installed. For some reason I can't set 3840x2160 (native host) resolution in RH. On top of that, RH does not remember screen settings. Host is W10Pro 1809.

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Startup Freeze

On VMware Workstation 10.0.7-2844087 with a Windows 10 Home 1903 host and a VM with a fresh installation of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, the VM works fine until all available Ubuntu updates are installed.  After that, it boots to a blank purple screen and no further.

Would this be a VMWare or Ubuntu issue?

Shared VM disappeared

So I have 2 VMs and a shared VM running on workstation 15 Pro. I decided to upgrade to a larger SSD. Being an inexperienced VM operator, I copied all 3 folders (including the Shared VM) to the new drive. I was able to open 2 VMs from the new drive but the shared VM was not opening from the new drive. Thank god, I had not deleted the original folders from the smaller drive. I deleted the shared VM from the larger drive and started googling on how to move shared VMs. After a few minutes I learned that I have to stop sharing the VM then copy it and share it again. When I attempted to stop sharing the VM, It first removed Win 7 Pro VM from the Shared VM Parent directory and the wizard gave me an error.

I tried creating a new shared VM and pointing to the vmx file but no luck. It tries to boot into it but fails. If I did not have a few important files in the VM I would just recreate it but I can not. I would appreciate any guidance.

Thanks

Upgraded to Workstation 15 from 14.5, part of www.rossco.org product offering

now, vmware-netcfg errors out as title, requiring plexec or gnomesu.

sudo ineffective, already running as root

Is there a workaround, to allow running as root, without helpers?

Thanks;

Are there any instructions or tutorials for installing Windows 10 IoT Core on VMWare Workstation?

I am using Workstation 14 on Windows 10 x64 Pro.

I downloaded the ISO images for IoT core and Minnowboard Max, but neither is a bootable ISO, they contain MSI files.

Thanks for any guidance.

i use in my pc, Windows 10 and workstation with another windows 10, but isn't very smooth.

Before to install vmtools, was a lag, everywhere. Now this issue is solved, but for example, when i put up and down windows, animation isn't very smooth.

When i try to drag a window, animation isn't smooth, bottom line, with my pc, my expectation was an experience, like without virtualization, so same same.

My pc:

CPU 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7

32 GB DDR4

RadeonTM RX Vega M GH Graphics

In bios is enable virtualitazion

here my setup in workstation ( in attachment )

Thanks to everyone

Hi, I have created a Server 2016 VM inside of VM Workstation and installed the Hyper V Role using setup in this guide https://protechgurus.com/install-hyper-v-on-vmware-workstation/

I have also opened Hyper V and created a VM.

But I get the following error when I attempt to start the VM.

HVS01-2019-06-30-12-10-37.png

The Server is a HPDL360e G8 and the following BIOS settings have all been enabled.

But I am still getting the hypervisor is not running message.

Any ideas?
