Scenario:
Host machine:
Windows 7 Pro
2 NICs -
#1 participating on LAN (192.168.1.253, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.1.1), physically connected to LAN switch (192.168.1.x)
#2 only VM Bridge protocol, physically connected to DMZ switch (192.168.2.x). Originally this NIC was participating on 192.168.2.x segment as well, with no impact on this issue. I prefer this NIC not be used by HOST.
VMWare workstation v10, Virtual Network Editor configured that VMNet(0) is bridged to NIC # 2 from host.
1st Guest VM:
Windows 2003
1 Virtual NIC - Custom VMNet(0) (192.168.2.144, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.2.1)
This Guest can connect to the Internet and participate in DMZ correctly.
2nd Guest VM
Windows 2003
1 Virtual NIC - Custom VMNet(0) (192.168.2.150, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.2.1)
This Guest does not connect to the Internet and can not see other machines in DMZ. Only can Ping or browse Guest #1 VM (192.168.2.144) with positive results.
I am not a noob to networking and have gone over all my settings many times to make sure everything is correct, however I can not figure out why Guest #2 can not network correctly. I have also changed Guest #2 with another Guest machine with no difference, so it is not specific to my Guest OS, config, or anything like that.
No firewall active on any machines, host or guests.
Can someone shed some light on this? Am I wrong to think that 2 Guest machines that need to be on the same LAN segment can both use the same Virtual Adapter?
