Hello, cutting to the chase, I am experiencing choppy video performance and playback in my vmware guest when I move the mouse around. Imagine moving the mouse in a figure 8 motion or just moving the mouse around in general, in the guest window, when there is video playback or animations, there is extreme "choppiness" until I stop moving the mouse. Once I stop moving the mouse, the choppiness seems to go away.
The details:
Product: VMware Workstation 10
Host OS: Xubuntu 13.04 64-bit
Host Kernel: 3.11
Host ram: 16GB
Host Processor: Intel core i7-3840QM (host is a laptop, plugged in, full power, etc)
Host HDD: 256GB SSD (primary OS drive), Guest is installed on a 750GB secondary 7200RPM standard HDD
Guest OS: Windows 7, 64-bit (fully updated, clean install other than Google Chrome and VLC being installed)
Guest Ram: 4GB
Guest HDD: 60GB, split into 2GB chunks, pre-allocated
Guest CPU: 1x vCPU, 4x vCores (issue persists if i switch to 2x2: 2vCPU and 2 vCores)
Guest VM tools are fully updated (running WS 10.0 tools)
I experience the choppy video playback while watching videos in VLC media player, or in youtube on google chrome. I also experience the choppy video if using streaming services like Netflix. I have also noticed choppy animations and video performance within google earth, all while moving the mouse around during the playback or animation.
Obviously this is a somewhat frustrating issue, not a show-stopper, but something I would love to resolve. Perhaps I can get some things to try or tweak.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
