VMWare Workstation 10 and Virtual Audio Cable

I am trying to feed audio from my PC into a Windows and/or Ubuntu guest using Virtual Audio Cable (Virtual Audio Cable Home Page).

I can hear my audio going into the virtual audio cable by using the audio repeater app from VAC.

In my VM configuration i select the virtual audio cable 1 in the Sound Card connection setting.

sound.present = "TRUE"

sound.fileName = "Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable)"

sound.autodetect = "FALSE"

When i start my VM the sound card is disconnected. When i connect the sound card Workstation tells me:

Error opening sound device 5: A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system. Failed to connect virtual device sound.

How to troubleshoot?

VMWare Workstation 10.0.5 build-2443746

Windows 7 x64 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS guests.

Thanks,

Ton.
