Hey everyone,
im new to VMware and currently working with VMware Workstation 8.
Workstation 8 is running on my Win 7 Host. I installed Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and wanted to share a folder from host to guest. But i cant mount it...
How i tried to do it:
So in VM Workstation i did:
VM -> Settings -> Options -> Sharedfolders enable
Host Path: P:\Datashare
Name: datashare
I installed the VMware Tools in Ubuntu
and followed serveral Instructions,
e.g. : VMware KB: Installing VMware Tools in an Ubuntu virtual machine
Before doing that, i installed :
- gcc
- binutils
- make
- kernel sources
I first installed the Tool manually (without default -d), and allways selected the default.
At some point it said:
"The path "" is not a valid path to the xxxx-generic kernel headers.
Would you like to cange it? [yes]
Enter the path to the kernel header files for the 3.8.0-19-generic kernel?"
I googled for a solutions and set some symbolic links...
After that i tried to mount the folder with the command
sudo mount -t vmhgfs .host:/datashare /home/constantin
but it said:
Error: cannot mount filesystem: No such device.
Then i continued googling and googling. Then i ran into
lsmod | grep vmhgfs to check if the vmware shared foldeers module is running but i dindt get any output.
So i said modprobe vmhgfs
Output:
modprobe: FATAL: Module vmhgfs not found.
.
.
.
.
.
I didnt find anything to fix this problem..
Can u guys help me to mount my shared folder?
Thanks!!
