Mouse cursor icon changes to random shape in Shared VM mode

Hi,

I'm running Workstation TCP 2014 on a Windows 8.1Pro machine. As guests I primarily use Windows 7 64bit machines. I recently started testing the Shared VM option and found something strange.

First of (but this may be by design), the Windows Aero capability is removed when a VM is moved to the Shared VM pool. Even when accessed locally the Aero function is not available. When the VM is moved back to a NON Shared VM folder the Aero function comes back.

The second issue that I found is that the mouse cursor starts misbehaving in Shared VM mode. At least in one Windows 7 64bit VM I have I have seen this. I can also replicate this behaviour with this machine. The mouse cursor functionality is still there, but the cursor does not change anymore. It starts out working normally, but after a few moments (or actions) the cursor stays in the last 'mode'. If for example I selected a Save Action in the application that I was using and the mouse cursor changed into the Windows 7 circle (indicating that I need to wait) the cursor does not change back to a normal pointer. It does functionally however, but the look stays in the 'waiting circle' mode. After a while (at random it seems) it changes to whatever I am doing at that time. This can be a window resize action, or a normal pointer for example.

Has anyone here seen this in Shared VM mode?

Is there a solution for this?

I have moved the VM back to a NON Shared VM folder so I can continue working with it as I would like to. If needed I can move it back to the Shared VM folder to gather some more information.

Kind regards,

Jim
