Guest OS fails to ping host on host startup

I have a virtual network created that has multiple virtual machines connected to it. This virtual network has a host adapter and dhcp enabled. Upon startup of the host and VMs, all VMs receive a valid IP address and can communicate to each other. However no VM communicates successfully to the host.

My current workaround is to open the virtual network editor and remove the host virtual adapter, apply, then re-enable it. After that all VMs communicate to the host correctly.

This there some way to make a change so I do not have to do this workaround after every boot?
