Hi Guys,
While working with one VM (Windows 7 64bit) I wanted to start another in a new window to be able to run it on a different screen (I have two displays). I was able to start a new window (as before) and select the VM I wanted to start. I could also start the new VM, but while the new VM was starting I recieved an error message from the first VM (a workstation error message):
Fatal Application Error: The operation was canceled (class foundry::Error)
After Clicking OK the first VM seems to be killed, while memory and processor resources are not returned to the host machine (Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit). Also, the following error message was displayed:
VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vmui)
ASSERT
d:/build/ob/bora-1829221/bora/apps/vmappsdkWin32/vmappsdk/mksCtl.cpp:969
A log file is available in "C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware-Jim\vmware-ui-6540.log".
You can request support.
After closing all VM's and restarting the Workstation software, the original VM can be opened again and appears to have survived the 'crash' and did not even shutdown (it continued to run in the background). If I then want to start the second VM again in a new window, it all goes wrong again.
If I start the second VM in the same window (so using the TAB view) it starts and keeps the original VM running also.
I could run the two VM's in seperate windows up until a few days ago and have not changed anything to my display setup or display driver setup.
