I'd like to try to understand any impacts of deciding to use VMware Fusion vs. VMware Workstation. I have a make using bootcamp that can boot either into Windows 7 or Maverick. I need to decide wether to purchase a fusion or a workstation license.
I thought of one consideration but I would like to see if there is anything I haven't thought of.
-if you like to use automation and command line to do everything, if you are skilled in bash or in powershell, it may be desirable to use the version which corresponds to your experience
(I mean doing things like managing virtual machines, files and so on on the base os, not inside the virtual machines)
if you are a bash/applescript guy -> easier to automate things at the mac os level related to vms running in fusion
if you are a powershell guy -> easier to automate things at the windows os level related to a workstation instance running on top of windows 7
Other things I'm thinking of -
-Is it easier to convert a workstation or a fusion VM to an ESXi VM? (if that can be done)
-Any other ideas on this from anyone appreciated.
