Anytime I do this sequence of operations, my guest OS comes up in meager 640x400 resolution instead of the usual 1400x1050.
- Shut down or suspend my Windows guest (Windows XP Professional SP3)
- Quit VMware Workstation (version 10.0.1 for Linux)
- Reboot my Linux host (Ubuntu 13.10)
- Restart my Windows XP guest
This happens even if I merely suspended the guest (as opposed to shutting it down) before the quit/restart.
This did not used to happen; only in the past few months.
At the same time, I run a Windows 7 guest in another tab (so it goes through the same procedure), and it comes up full resolution.
Any ideas? My vmx config file is attached.
