Hi
I've had the situation several times where I have had unity 'fail', normally through no fault of its own. My PC has BSOD'd or hibernated unexpectedly while unity mode was engaged.
In itself the VM's load up fine, however they retain the multi monitor profile from the unity session. I have 3 monitors so when in unity the guests have 3 monitors. When I close down normally it goes back to one and I can use the guest in the workstation window. When unity doesn't close cleanly the guest retains all 3 monitors in normal mode. The only way I can clear this is to shut down the guest, set it to 1 monitor manually, start the guest. Shut it down again and then reconfigure it to use host monitors. Start up and then it will go in and out of unity fine. The problem is that takes a while and if I have 3 or 4 hosts to do I can lost AGES in fixing it.
There must be a way to tell the guest OS to re-detect, (a combination of XP, Win7, Win8 and server 2008 machines) without that process but I'm damned if I can find it.
To replicate set up a multi monitor host, enter unity on a guest and hibernate your PC, (or hard power it off). When you resume the guest will start out of unity but have the monitor set up as if it was still in unity
Suggestions people?
Thanks
Mark
